Transem (Pty) Ltd. is a privately family-owned company, and the directors and shareholders are J.A. du Plessis, A.C. du Plessis and newcomer M.A. du Plessis. The company was established in 1979 and the main activities are milk processing and dairy product distribution to all sectors of the customer spectrum. The main categories of products are fresh milk, fresh cream, yoghurt, maas and cheese. Besides dairy products we also pack fruit juices mixed from concentrates.
Transem (Pty)Ltd was originally established in 1979 as an embryo transplanting company by Dr. Pieter Burger. The name Transem is this combined from “Transfer Embryos”. The purpose was to breed genetically super cows to produce milk for the manufacturing of maas to the thousands of employees of the surrounding gold mines in the Klerksdorp area. Transem soon added fresh pasteurised milk to its product range
